Expedite China 2017

CEO Sam Birrell joined representatives from the Bendigo Business Council, Committee for Echuca Moama, City of Bendigo and ANZ for a visit to Jiangsu province in China. The delegation met with Victorian Government representatives in Shanghai, and discussed the progress of horticultural import protocols of Australian produce.

The group travelled from Shanghai to Nanjing, on the 305 km/hr high speed train, where they looked at the Nanjing smart city headquarters. The next visit was Haimen, a municipality of 1 million and sister city to Bendigo, where an MOU was signed between the economic development department of Haimen and Bendigo Business Council.

The market opportunities are enormous in China, and in horticultural produce and dairy, Greater Shepparton has the export commodities desired by the emerging urbanised Chinese. The region can greatly benefit by establishing strong links in China and utilising relationships of other central Victorian centres.
