GBCMA Wins WatSave Award!

We would like to congratulate one of our members Goulburn Broken Catchment Management Authority on winning the International Watsave Technology Award. This WatSave award will be presented in Mexico City in early October. Some of our other Committee for Greater Shepparton members were also involved and apart of this achievement; Goulburn Murray Water and Murray Dairy.

The Farm Water Program has been recognised internationally for its innovation in supporting the region’s irrigators to use water more efficiently and productively on their properties. Recently the program was awarded the WatSave Technology Award by the International Commission on Irrigation and Drainage for its “Farm Water Program, Water Savings Calculator”. The calculator estimates how much water can be saved based on irrigation technology, soil and crop type.

This information is then used by the irrigator to apply for funding through the Farm Water Program to upgrade their farm irrigation systems. The Farm Water Program is a consortium of Northern Victoria agencies led by Goulburn Broken CMA. Other partners are the North Central and North East CMA’s, Goulburn Murray Water, Murray Dairy, Dairy Australia, Department of Environment, Land, Water and Planning, Department of Economic Development, Jobs, Transport and Resources and Northern Victorian irrigators.
