— MEDIA RELEASE —

The Committee for Greater Shepparton (C4GS) is delighted to announce the appointment of Linda Nieuwenhuizen to the role of Chief Executive Officer of the organisation.

Linda has extensive experience in communications, advocacy and marketing. Her most recent role has been as the Head of Communications for Apple and Pear Australia Limited. She has worked across both the private and public sectors in governance and communications roles including Goulburn-Murray Water, Moira Shire, CPA Australia and AWB Limited. Linda is currently Deputy Board Chair of Goulburn Valley Water.

Linda has a deep understanding of the region and in particular the agribusiness and irrigation sectors. She has lead submissions and discussion papers on significant issues, including the Murray Darling Basin Authority plan and community and stakeholder engagement programs relating to major infrastructure projects. These include the Food Bowl Modernisation Project, NVIRP and the Northern Region Sustainable Water Strategy.

She has managed media and stakeholder engagement in relation to significant reform agendas and major incidents and she has broad industry connections both locally and nationally.

“I’m really excited to be stepping into this role at this time, and to continue the great work the Committee had delivered for our region,” Linda said.

Linda’s connection to the region began with her family’s dairy farm at Cobram. Linda and her husband Paul returned to the region in 2007 and their children have attended school locally.

C4GS Board Chair, Lesley Hart said the Board is delighted to have somebody of Linda’s calibre to take on this role.

“Given Linda’s broad experience in both the public and private sector, as well as her thorough working knowledge of the issues that affect our region, Linda will be in a position to hit the ground running.

“This is vital given the impending Federal and State elections next year. C4GS aims to play a significant role in shaping the conversation and we are excited about the future possibilities for our region,” Ms Hart said.

Linda started in late February 2022.
